We can’t think of a better way to celebrate SPRING than sewing with our quilty friends. This April 15-16 we are gathering after our monthly guild meeting for two days of retreat and sewing fun. Friday is an EXTRA day with a project/class, SWAG bag, requires registration and payment, etc. Saturday is our normal guild Saturday Sew.
Date: Friday, APRIL 15
Time: 10:00 a.m. – Midnight
Place: Quilted Works Retreat Center
Cost: $50
Includes: Four hours of instruction by Sara on the Undercover Maker Mat Tutorial by lillyella.com. Instructions will be emailed with prep instructions and supply list. (This would be adorable to coordinate with our Sew Sassy Thread catcher that we made last spring.)
Class starts at 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
After the class, we will have open sew time until midnight to work on your own projects. This will also reserve your spot with early access to Saturday Sew.
Go to CLASSES to register.

We had a great meeting to kick off the new year! Lots of exciting plans!
Here is a recap for those in attendance and to catch up those that missed out..
What a treat to have Kaitlyn Howell from Knot+Thread as a guest at our guild meeting. Many of us have known Kaitlyn since she started working at Quilted Works while she was still in high school. It has been amazing to see all she has accomplished in the quilting world, as well as personally. We LOVE Kaitlyn (her quilting and patterns too!)
What a fun and creative process learning how to make this cute Teeny Tiny Sewing Machine Collage Quilt using the method from Laura Heine of Fiberworks. This mini quilt finishes at 16″ x 20″ and is the perfect size to start with to learn this technique. Here are just a few finishes from our class. Love how individual personalities and styles are displayed.
The Red Rock Modern Quilt Guild chose to make quilts for the Southern Utah Veteran’s Home in Ivins, UT. Members of the guild donated Red, White, & Blue fabrics to make Americana themed quilts for the beds of the Veterans and spouses of Veterans who reside in this facility. We presented the quilts to the VA Home on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2019. This is just a small token of appreciation for their service and sacrifice for our country. To our men and women in uniform, past, present, and future, THANK YOU ALL!
Last Saturday we had SEW much FUN with Shannon White (@itssewshannon). We made the Be Mine Pouch from Tickle Grass Designs. This bag uses Easy Piecing Grid from Ten Sisters Quilts and comes together perfectly… even with a zipper! It was SEW satisfying to make and finish a bag in just a few hours.
We ended the day with Shannon’s Trunk Show. This was a fun walk down memory lane. She showed us and told us the story of each of her quilts… not all of her quilts, but many! Her husband Stuart helped haul the quilts and complimented the show with his own heartfelt story about his grandmother’s quilts.
Thanks Shannon for a great day!
It has been awhile since we’ve posted on the website… here’s what’s happening with the RRMQG…
We are excited for these changes and our continued growth. Thank you for being a part of the RRMQG! If you aren’t a member… we would love for you to attend a meeting and check us out!
